WASHINGTON, D.C., (September 30, 2019)—The Global Alliance for Cannabis Commerce (GACC), a trade organization representing a major cross-section of the global cannabis industry, today announced its strategic partnership with solo sciences, the world’s first cryptographically-secure cannabis product authentication system.
According to the CDC, reported vaping illnesses have grown to more than 805 cases with 12 confirmed fatalities. As a result, leaders throughout the cannabis industry have called for regulatory action. However, a lack of information, fast-changing laws, and a lack of federal oversight have made the legal cannabis marketplace vulnerable to illegal sellers and harmful products.
Together, solo sciences and GACC have decided to partner to ensure that medical patients and adult consumers do not unwittingly purchase counterfeit or illicit vape products. With solo sciences’ technology, consumers can instantly authenticate legitimate products as differentiated from counterfeits. Through the partnership, solo sciences will be offering GACC members a substantial discount on anti-counterfeiting, instant product recall solo*CODE™ technology
“GACC is proud to partner with solo sciences as we work to increase cannabis consumer confidence that products are from legal, state-regulated sources,” said Randal John Meyer, Executive Director at GACC. “With solo*CODE™, our partners have the ability to take an active role to provide a verification system for their consumers.”
The mobile-first solo*CODE™ platform uses an app to decipher uniquely encoded labels—identifying authentic products without the need for expensive packaging technologies like holograms and radio-frequency identification (RFID). The patented technology creates uniquely different digital fingerprints that can only be used and decoded using the solo* app. The mobile app then allows for real-time decryption of the solo*CODE™, producing the product authenticity report.
“We’re determined to facilitate the creation of a more transparent cannabis marketplace,” said Ashesh (Alex) Shah, CEO and founder of solo sciences. “In light of the recent outbreak of vape-related illnesses and reports, we’re reminded of the need to ensure product legitimacy. With our solo*CODE™ technology, we will provide GACC members a tool to build trust among consumers and distributors, while securing the supply chain.”
